12:50 am - Rightful Rocket Shield?
|
My first intention with LJ account was simple. Just register and don't respond to posts of others anonymously. I have already shared my mere opinions in my native language, so no big deal. And why make e-waters cloud with my improper English. Problem is that there exist issues which we should talk about and chatting with my Czech fellows doesn't spread the issue behind frontiers.
And what exactly made me to overcome my diffidence? Let's talk about how a tiny part of our small country named the Czech Republic is going to be owned by foreigner's rocket shield, although more than 70% of the Czech population is against it.
If someone is new to this topic, I dare to quote a short paragraph from Washington Post's website Need to know (source; published on July 8, 2008): "The U.S. National Missile Defense project is a complex, far-reaching system involving the production of new weapons and the installation of U.S. military bases around the world. In Europe, the first step is the installation of an advanced radar facility in the Czech Republic, as well as a base for interceptor missiles in neighboring Poland."
In the ages of Bush's government started discussions about how important is creating defensive systems. Since our and US government sides have managed to come up with many potential intruders (Iran, Russian, ...), I guess it should defend us from everyone. I introduce one example which is a nice illustration how open talks are. One day the Czech minister for foreign concerns answered to the question, "Who is potential enemy who brought a need for defense?" - "There are countries which has excellent technology, raw materials, and very developed army. Who think about it, he'll discover that between Bering sea and Mediterranean exist more than enough such countries." Hmm, if I am aware enough, this is valid only in the case of the USA and Israel. Will the rocket shield defend us from Israel then? And by the way, I thought CIA informed that the country stopped developing nuclear weapons. If government clearly lies about a purpose, how can anyone be sure of its clear intention?
Second fact is a reason of existence. We are a member of EU, not a member of an overseas country. We are a country with majority of people who disagrees with US politics (not only foreign one). We have optimal relationships with Russia, Israel, and the most of others. Czech Republic is small, so our army probably exists only for purposes of helping others. That's why we have very good chemical and medical units than hardcore units in the style of SWAT, for off record. So a reason of helping for right reasons is important issue, I think, and it wasn't fulfilled. We are unwillingly in a pact with someone who is chasing after hidden enemy and in the past proves that he does bad things for greed.
Third and for me the most important fact is an aspect of democracy. Fine, I admit it. Our present government is pretty *****. I don't want to hold forth a local situation, let me just say the leading party was very pro-american in the time when it was probably in and this year they win in only one of 14 districts during district elections. Discussions about the rocket shield started, Czechs were heavily against it, discussions continued, Czechs were heavily against it, discussion ended successfully for American side and Czechs were still against it. Huh? I was taught at my schools that a democracy (more precisely, a liberal democracy) is the society which places emphasis on human rights and liberty. If a democratic country forces its opinion upon unwilling country, isn't it a failure of democracy? If the USA authorities are so confident about their awesome solution and lift up their democracy, why they didn't insist on a referendum or stop in the view of facts that majority of country is against it? Yeah, you can say, "Hey, your leaders agreed", but I can say, "Hey, Tibetan officers promoted by Chinese authorities agreed with Tibetan occupation too. What's da problem?"or "Hey, commies came with invitation of some of our representatives too." If a couple of people speak for a majority but the inverse opinion of majority is obvious, you can't call it a fair action. It's just a dealing with unrighteous ones on the purpose.
A goal of this little article isn't stoning US for fun like many people like to do it. The goal is to show unspoken facts. I can't be satisfied with the global trend of closing eyes before something what isn't nice and pretending that it doesn't exist. From now on, due to this fact, the USA is an usurper who occupies my country on the the basis of clearly unwanted contract and doesn't care a bit about principles of democracy. At least walk the walk and don't preach differently, dear new tenant of our country.
Pardon me for not enough data which would cover my allegations. Many statements on the local politician scene aren't available in English and I don't think it would have some point to make reference to articles in Czech. But I am still open to the discussion.
[Some sources which aren't very informative to the extent that would be factual without personal feelings but better something than nothing - Need to know, Dandelion Salad (lol), Nenasili - About National Missile Defense System]

|
Welcome everyone. This journal hasn't any use for now. It exists just for my authenticity. Besides, I am not very skillful in English. Sorry, maybe later.
